Welcome to Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Ann Arbor is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, on the Huron River, and is the home of the University of Michigan's main campus. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 114,024, not including about 40,000 students.
Ann Arbor is the county seat of Washtenaw County; Ann Arbor Charter Township is adjacent to the city on the north and east sides. Ann Arbor & The University of Michigan are two of Michigan's best known places. Ann Arbor is a very progressive city of 115,213 and a metropolitan area of around 600,000 and shares its consolidated metropolitan area with Detroit (which is about 5.4 million).
The city is very walkable and has wonderful street cafes, restaurants, shops, and student centers. Easily one of the best college towns in America, Ann Arbor is the home of the University of Michigan, one of the best Big 10 universities along with the "Big House," the largest college football stadium in the country. The University of Michigan Law School is one of the most beautiful collegiate buildings in the country.
Ann Arbor is also the home of Kerrytown, a wonderful neighborhood with a marketplace and some great restaurants.

With its tree-shaded streets and clapboard houses, open-air farmers' market, and outdoor summer concerts and movies, Ann Arbor exudes a charm that has turned many students info lifelong residents.
Conveniently located just 25 minutes from Detroit Metropolitan airport, less than an hour from the city of Detroit and less than five hours from Chicago, Ann Arbor is easy to reach by car, bus, train or plane.
Pfizer operates a large pharmaceutical research facility on the northeast side of town. It was previously operated by Warner-Lambert and before that, Parke-Davis. Domino's Pizza's headquarters are in Ann Arbor. The flagship Borders Books was opened in Ann Arbor on State Street in 1971 by brothers Tom Borders and Louis Borders. The chain is still based there, as is the flagship store (although it is not in its original location). A little-known fact is that dogs are allowed inside the flagship store, and the cashiers have a stock of doggy treats for canine visitors.

Ann Arbor has many Cooperatives, including the People's Food Co-op and the Inter-Cooperative Council at the University of Michigan, a student housing cooperative.
The landscape is a blend of arboretums and industrial parks, intimate boutiques, bike paths and expressways, 19th century theaters and glass-walled office buildings. And with over 1,900 acres of park land at 145 sites, you're always close enough to take a walk or your lunch in a park.
